High School Friends Getting Engaged? Insane.
Even when you disregard the fact that I have no intention of getting married and view it kind of as a way of drawing up a contract on your relationship (ick); even if you pretend that I don't feel that way... perhaps go even so far as to imagine that I love marriage and weddings and picket fences and kids called Jane and Thomas... even then, it's still so unbelievably weird that a girl I spent my high school years with is ENGAGED. Personally, I think nineteen is really young to make such a huge decision but, I suppose, if she's sure about the way they feel for one another - why wait? But I had German lessons with this girl, we talked about guys and friends and looked up rude words in German dictionaries. And now she's getting married, I can't help but remember her as the same old teenage girl in her St Wilfrid's uniform. It's just completely insane - how did this happen? I still have the year 7 photos of us all when we were eleven/twelve, and now this. I'm going to her engagement party on Friday but I still can't believe it. Weird.
Now for my latest literary conquest. I've been dipping into Richelle Mead's Succubus series featuring the awesome heroine - Georgina Kincaid - and just general hot sex, mysteries and lack of moral values (see my goodreads review). They're really good, light urban-fantasy/paranormal romance type books. A bit chick-lit style but far more smutty than is typical. I've just finished reading the second book and I'm ordering the third one online shortly. As for the time being, I have moved on to Bitten by Kelley Armstrong. So far it's been decent but has been a lot more werewolf mythology and less dirty scenes and action, however I have just left it at an extremely promising part where Elena (protagonist) has lost a poker game and the penalty is for her to go out into the woods with sexy Clayton and let him do what he wants with her. Yay!
One last thing I particularly wanted to mention is that I can't believe I never listened to Owl City's cover of Taylor Swift's 'Enchanted' before now. Basically, she wrote the song about Adam Young (who is adorable) from Owl City and he replied with his own version, changing some lyrics to direct the song back at Taylor. Here it is in a fanmade youtube video of the two (the vid was not made by me, I have no affiliation with either of them, blah-de-blah):
