Intro

I'm Emily May (frequently known as emleemay or jmgroupe), a weirdo underneath all the normality and it comes out on the internet. I'm a private person, in general, but I like to record my thoughts, before it was in journals, now it's in this blog. The title alone says something is strange about me, this is correct; and yet I'm still trying to figure out exactly what it is that makes me this paranoid, neurotic oddball. Outwardly, I've been told I'm likeable, though what I know of me inwardly makes me question my outward persona as well. I'm young with an old soul. I'm emotional but closed off. I despise restrictions and rebel subconsciously when they are placed upon me. I also write and talk in riddles, you may have noticed.

Living Arrangements

I've lived my entire life in a small village in the North East of England with my parents, my brother: Jake, my sister: Chelsey, a dog called Winston and five cats known as: Willow, Blair, Ginny, Dora and Othello. I dream of travelling the world and one day settling in London (this city has stolen my heart).

On The Outside

I'm about 5'5" and a UK size 8-10, discern what you want from that. My looks have been both highly praised and snidely mocked throughout the years; I have decent facial features but there's the odd thing that can be picked up on if someone really wished to, like the fact that my ears are a little on the large side and my teeth grew with some white marks on them. You can see ugliness in everything if you look hard enough. I've never had braces and I'm free of glasses/lenses, except sometimes I wear glasses anyway because I fancy that they make me look smart.

My hair is blonde, it has always been blonde, I've dyed it different shades of blonde to try it out but that's it. I am a blonde. I don't care if people look at me and think I have a low IQ (I don't) I like being blonde and intend to stay this way. I have my ears pierced and I'm looking into getting another piercing next to the first one, but I'm not a fan of the metal-face looks that some people sport; same goes for tattoos, they don't appeal to me.

As for my wardrobe, I don't really have a particular style. You wouldn't call me a goth, emo, chav, geek or punk. I see clothes I like, I buy them, simple as; I don't seek a particular style, colour or brand but I do dress to impress, I like it when people look over at me admiringly. I mostly shop at River Island, Topshop, Schuh and Boots.

On The Inside

My inside is much more complex than my outside, as is often the case but I like a lot of ordinary things such as television, music, reading and writing. I've always had a passion for writing and story ideas have been bursting through my brain ever since I was a young girl, one day I hope to finally get a book published. I'm a real daydreamer, I can literally lay on my bedroom floor for hours just lost in my own thoughts - it's never boring, I think my dreams could either make or break me, I could put them to good use or I could end up getting too lost in dreaming to ever achieve anything but I sincerely hope not. I want to make a mark. A political mark, to be precise; I have a passion for politics and I want my voice to be heard one day.

I'm not the shopper that many young women are but I do love getting new things, I just can't browse, I hate going shopping when I have very little to spend for this reason, but I adore Ebay, Amazon and Forbidden Planet, sometimes they are like second homes (which is pretty sad). I'm also almost nocturnal, I love staying up most of the night and watching the sunrise, I even sleep better during the day, I keep myself up on cups of tea because I'm addicted to the stuff and I love my "Late to bed and late to rise" approach.

One of my biggest passions is collecting things, particularly book series, magazines, comics, autographs and TV memorabilia, or more specifically BUFFY memorabilia (but more about that later). This love was fuelled by the invention of Ebay and Amazon, I am completely at the mercy of the internet's many attractions. Like I said earlier, I'm extremely paranoid and have terrible mood swings that often impact negatively on my home life, but I'm not a bad person, I'm open-minded, liberal and opinionated, I just have big problems trusting people. My favourite colours are red, black and white; I think a psychoanalyst would say they are the colours of my destruction or something equally enlightening but I don't care much. Oh, and I love the smell of petrol.

Belief

I don't believe in God, I reject the Bible and the Qu'ran and any other holy book you'd care to rub in my face, I believe these represent the evils and ignorance of humanity - anything so truly divine as a God, I do not believe would be so cruelly human as that which is portrayed in these books; and if they are, then they are not worth worshipping anyway. I support science, science interests me and it keeps opening our eyes to what we did not know before, I think there are only two possible origins of this world: 1) Science, or 2) Imagination. The point is, if a creator makes something and doesn't like the way it behaves, then it is the fault of the creator. But the God so many know seeks to punish humans for their faults that must have also been created by the God - if the stories are true, I reject God anyway. As for other beliefs, I haven't made my mind up about ghosts and the afterlife, I want to go see a medium and decide how I feel afterwards. One thing I would like to believe in is life on other planets, I think it's highly possible but I doubt it's a discovery my lifetime will ever bring about.

Likes

Most stuff I've mentioned: music, television, films, collecting, politics, travelling the world, reading and writing. I like collecting photographs of memorable events as well, I never want to forget a moment that was important to me.

In recent years television shows have become increasingly important to me, starting with Buffy The Vampire Slayer, it is my favourite TV show of all time and it changed my life and views in various ways that I never thought possible. And, by the way, I'm a spuffy shipper. I've met numerous actors and actresses from the show at Collectormania events and I loved every second, even though I was shaking like a leaf when I met the gorgeous James Marsters. He's just WOW. Most of the stuff I collect is Buffy memorabilia, and my favourite characters are Spike, Willow and Anya. Aside from Buffy, Angel is another of Joss Whedon's triumphs that I love, as well as Roswell, Supernatural, True Blood, Lost and Glee. I also love British comedies like Blackadder, Absolutely Fabulous, Vicar of Dibley, QI, Never Mind The Buzzcocks and Have I got News For You? Stephen Fry is my hero.

I like playing games on my PC, Playstation 2 (not 3!) and Nintendo DS. For PC I have the sims games, some of the most addictive games I have ever encountered, especially with the launch of sims 3 and all the new possibilities it brings, I can just sit and play on it for hours. For the Playstation 2, I have my Final Fantasy games, I'm quite the addict and my favourite game is VIII because I loved the Rinoa/Squall relationship and I thought the overall game story was one of the best. My old FFVIII got damaged after repeated use so I recently ordered I new one off the internet (yay!) Good times. And the DS one is the worst to admit - Pokemon. Seriously, it's just a good game, it's got a good story, cute little things to collect and with each new game there are more and more pokemon. It's like a collector's dream, it's like my dream! I've played every single game in every generation, shall I just run those by you: Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, Gold, Silver, Crystal, Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, LeafGreen, FireRed, Pearl, Diamond, Platinum, HeartGold and SoulSilver. And guess what... next year Black and White are being released. I actually have no life.

Geekiness gone, pervertedness arrives. I like handcuffs and blindfolds, I like gags and chains, sometimes I like weirder stuff too, but basically it all comes down to one thing: I like sex. I don't think I need to explain why.

I also love animals, I'm the kind of person who can't go to animal rescue places because I'd just bring them all home, especially cats, they have a special place in my heart (well, I do have five). I would love to have the following pets at some point:

  • Cats (yes, more!)
  • A Pug
  • Frogs
  • A Snake
  • A White Horse
  • A Tortoise
  • A Chameleon
